After graduation, I want to focus on research and spend my time with nature-based materials like Hemp, Mycelium, Algae, and more. I would also love to get work experience in the climate tech industry/start-ups. It would be great to see how this industry can grow and improve our lives.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

Recently, the evolution of climate tech and AI has been inspiring. As a climate enthusiast, I believe a mixture between tech and hardware is necessary. The most exciting part of the climate tech industry for me is seeing more practical hardware/physical solutions. Even though software solutions for solving climate change are essential, I believe the most effective way to reduce and reverse climate change is through physical solutions that are impactful.

I am genuinely still uncertain, however I currently have strong interests in transport, finance, data science, and entrepreneurship. My primary goal is to remain curious and try my hand at as much as I can whilst I’m still studying.

What are your plans after graduation?

While graduation is still a fair way off for me, I’m truly excited by all of the possibilities open to me at the moment. The most fulfilling job would be one where I can leverage my authentic, deep rooted curiosity in others as well as the technical skills and problem-solving techniques I have learnt in my degree. While I don’t know where specifically, I want to work somewhere that operates at the intersection of my two greatest passions – people and tech. I want to make a positive social impact, and I believe that the best way to do that is to utilise technology to solve complex social issues and enhance the lives of those in the community.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

The most exciting part about all three of these topics is the rate at which they are all growing, changing, and improving. Digital, innovation, and tech seem to be growing exponentially – and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Even over the past year, I’ve seen countless examples of digital transformation in almost every domain, and have begun to realise the wide-reaching impacts of global tech. I’m so excited to contribute to such a rapidly growing industry, as I feel like the rate of learning and opportunity is higher than ever.

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

Recently, I applied for an engineering internship at Google, and was lucky enough to be successful! Google has always been my dream company – and I can’t wait to be a part of their team for 3 months over summer. As well as this, over the past year I have founded and led my own university society into existence. After being inspired by some amazing individuals at The State of Digital Innovation in Queensland event last year, I decided that in order to bridge the gap between students and industry, I was going to create a society dedicated to upskilling and informing students in emerging technologies. While it was a long process, I’m so excited to say that at the present moment, this society is running workshops, networking events, exhibitions and panels. I honestly didn’t think I would make it to this point, so this is definitely my proudest moment as of lately.

What are your plans after graduation?

Either continue working in Venture, transition into consulting or start my own business.

The current development of ultra low power processing chips that can provide constant live data to enhance everyday decision making.

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

Summitting mt Kilimanjaro, building a 9 hole mini golf course out of recycled material to raise money for mens mental health week last week, starting a can and bottle recycling program at the University of Queensland and it’s residential colleges through a partnership with Crunch, 3D printing over 2000 face masks for the Sunshine Coast university hospital during the first wave of COVID.

What are your plans after graduation?

It is unfair to try to pinpoint a specific pathway that I would take at such age, as I’m constantly curious and fascinated by so many possibilities. So I would like to keep my plan open for whatever comes around. 

Tho as of late, I’ve taken time to understand me more as a person (strengths/weaknesses/values..), and I’m happy when visualizing myself working as a project manager. Anywhere that allows me to showcase my skills in social interactions and people management;  with a keen interest in finance/sports/social services. So the plan after graduation would ideally be to work in start-ups, gain experience in consultancy, and always be open to grasp on whichever opportunities thrown at me.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

I might sound cliche but I am curious about AI. Especially on how its application can be helpful for business analysis, make production more efficient, and its application in people’s mental health services.

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

I am still on an evergoing quest to enrich my experience, but here are probably some of the things I’ve done most recently:

– Treasurer/President of Handcraft and Arts club at Uni that is in the process of turning into an NGO.

– Building a community on Fin-Twit by sharing my journey and knowledge in stock analysis and trading.

– Educator on stock analysis method for a finance community on Discord.

– Co-creating an online learning module to be added to a uni course curriculum to enhance student’s skills in reading the financial market.

– Giving my best shot and having a can-do attitude in whatever I do!

What are your plans after graduation?

I have committed to helping 100,000 people by 2032. I plan to do this by having my own social impact ventures (startups) as well as supporting others alongside such a journey as well. After I graduate, I plan to go full-time on my startups and commit to seeing an impact that otherwise would not have happened come to life. Be it digital solutions, communities, or partnerships, there’s a lot to be done.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

I’ve been interested in the rise of the no-code space in the past couple of years as a medium for democratizing access to building digital solutions. An example of this is how just recently I’ve built a no/low-code medical record system for one of the most impactful NGOs in one of the poorest regions on the most populated island in Indonesia. This solution, designed specifically for families in street situations – particularly newborn babies, allows for the previously paper-based notes to be accessed and analyzed on the fly. This solution was built with a no-code tool and extended with code, which means that the NGO (even without having to know how to code) can still modify and improve the solution as time goes on.

What are your plans after graduation?

I would love to work as a UX/UI or product designer, specialising in ideating and creating thoughtful digital solutions to improve people’s lives. I am passionate about exploring all aspects of the industry to discover new opportunities and learn as much as I can.

“I find the AI revolution to be particularly exciting. The use of AI technology has the potential to break boundaries through the endless opportunities, improve the way we work and pave the way for an exciting future.

I am particularly interested in the ethics of AI technology and feel passionately about ensuring that they are developed with a user-centric approach. I hope we are able to develop tech solutions which are inclusive, useful and have a positive impact.”

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

UQ Ladies in Tech Marketing Executive and President Roles: In joining the UQLIT community I enjoy nourishing my passion for design, user-centric innovation, and entrepreneurship. I began as a member of the marketing team creating graphics, scheduling social media posts, collating the newsletter and designing our merchandise. In my current role as president, I aim to continue inspiring and empowering a community of women and have thoroughly enjoyed planning events, inspiring others and learning the importance of confident and considerate decision-making.

Organised and planned UQ’s first student UX design event: I am so excited to be organising this event with a small community of like-minded peers who share my passion and interest in IT. The sold-out event aims to give students a more nuanced understanding of a career in design. Students will spend the day working on a case study, hearing from professional designers and learning the basics of Figma. We can’t wait!

Folklore Design Chapter Participant: Run by Folklore, a Sydney-based VC firm, this involved learning from UX/UI experts how to design for start-ups with a user-centred, inclusive and considered approach.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to move into communication design and use elements of my business degree to support my freelance career online. Using social media platforms, I’m striving to combine my passions for mental health, personal development, and art to create a supportive and inspiring platform for young creatives.

Definitely the developing technology and how it can help us collaborate, create, and develop solutions as teams at a faster and more effective rate.

Working with LEGO in designing assets for their exhibition in HOTA, winning an Adobe award for image design and production, working across illustration, entertainment spaces, and educational campaigns. Building an online community on Instagram.

What are your plans after graduation?

With what seems like endless career possibilities still to be discovered throughout the rest of my degree, it’s difficult to set a steadfast trajectory at such an early point in time. In saying that, I currently plan on pursuing a role somewhere at the crossroad between molecular engineering and genetics.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

The news of the recently approved gene therapy for haemophilia B has been a real eye-opener, along with the continuous strives we make in personalised medicine. The expertise involved in using existing biological processes as the backbone of novel medical technology and its profound impacts, both current and potential, will never fail to dazzle me.

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

With my newly-decided-on career, I haven’t had many opportunities to foster noteworthy achievements just yet. Despite that, my resolve to prove myself capable of many great accomplishments has never been stronger and I look forward to an exciting future, rich in opportunities for me to do exactly that.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plans after graduating would be to apply to be a software developer for companies in different fields. The reason why I don’t have a targeted field (for example: product development, banking, mining) is because I want to explore in different fields and decide which would be most suitable for me. At the same time, I plan to continue tutoring at my university, not only to give back to my university community by helping other students, but also to keep on improving my technical knowledge and skills.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

To be specific, artificial intelligence excites me the most at the moment. This is because I find it fascinating that AI can be used to facilitate many aspects of our lives. Thus, in general, I would say understanding the human factor in digital, innovation or tech is the most interesting to me. For me, having the great technical skills is not sufficient, understanding human needs and use our skills to create technology that support human needs would be the most important part of learning and developing technology.

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

One of my greatest achievements to date would be tutoring at my university. This job experience allows me to enhance my soft skills and technical skills significantly. For this job, my responsibility is to support the course coordinator in terms of delivering teaching materials, markings and supporting students. Another achievement of mine would be taking on a more active role for my career development. This includes participating in Industry Mentoring Program to get more insights into the industry, joining computing societies from my university.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to work as a Data Scientist overseas in possibly Europe or the UK. I am creating a possible startup through UQ venture so that may be a big part of my future!

AI becoming realistic, we are getting over the hype curve. I have definitely been at the hands of a manager who has told me to ‘use AI’ in any project he touches. Its about actual effective use of the concept not just talking about it.

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

– Led a team of 34 engineers in a weeklong University project to an A+ grade.
– Delivered a successful pro-bono data science report based on menus posted on instagram and financial data to a volunteer organisation (Everybody Eats) to help them achieve their goals.
– Transitioned from a Mechanical Engineer to a Data Scientist internally in an electric motor company.

I love that the industry is always changing and that there is always something new to learn. I like to continuously grow and expand my knowledge and skillset and this industry is great for that.

I had the chance to move to Paris and work at Disneyland for 2 years. Living and working here gave me the chance to work and meet so many new people from a mix of cultures and countries. This triggered my love for people and set me down the path of HR.

What are your plans after graduation?

I wish to continue working with digital technologies and extendes reality. My interest lies between the mining, medical, and defence sector. While the later would require me to become an Australian permanent resident which is also a top priority for me after graduating.

With the emergence of IoT technologies, digital twins, and Extended Reality, we are currently living in a time of changes when it comes to defining and shaping the future of corporate metaverse. I would like to be part of this journey by working on the things that I like.

Starting a Ph.D candidature on full scholarship was the biggest step I took for my career. It was contributed by the many other steps I took along my journey.

What are your plans after graduation?

Currently, I have a keen interest in applying my technical skills in the business sector where I deliver technological solutions that improve the operation of companies and manage risks. However, I also have future career prospects in the medical field (being an Asian) and might even look towards integrating my pursuits in technology with improving medical technology.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

Recently, I learnt about someone who outsourced all their financials to GPT4. By combining GPT4 with other AI tools, he was able to analyse his financials, terminate unused subscriptions and even appeal for refunds where possible. Whilst this is more eye-opening than exciting, I think overall, the global shift in the technology scene due to AI is like the new ‘internet’ to me – something revolutionary and world-changing. I’m pretty excited to see how regulations will try manage the expansion of AI technology but also how far people are willing to engage with AI (and even manage/take over parts of their life).

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

In my first case competition for Deloitte, I was very proud of my ability to lead our team of computer science and finance students to the semi-finals. We were told that the competition that year was extraordinarily high – all us semi-finalists would’ve wiped the competition last year. The learning experience was tremendously productive as I gained a too-deep knowledge bank of lithium batteries but also gained experience in presenting a slide deck report as a consultant. I’ve also been accepted into Ernst and Young’s GameChanger program so I’m very excited to see how I can develop my professional skills with them. Finally, all these opportunities were enabled through my acceptance into UQ as a Vice-Chancellor and Liveris Acadmey scholar. Both acknowledge my drive and ability to attain excellence – both in extra-curriculars and academics.

What are your plans after graduation?

My current studies include a Master of Data Science, after which I plan to work at a large company as a software engineer. After a couple of years I’ll create my own product/service and launch something myself!

Definitely the introduction of ChatGPT, and how it’s already been integrated into so many peoples lives. I’m also very interested in Augmented Reality, and how it can be used as a tool in the everyday workspace.

I am eager to learn more about these advancements and how they will continue to evolve in the future.

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

One of my most significant career achievements was co-founding a startup in Taiwan aimed at solving the coffee shortage problem on campus. Our team’s efforts were recognized when we were selected as one of the winners of the Zero-Dollar Entrepreneurship Project, and we received an investment of NTD100,000 from the Ministry of Education and Feng Chia University. As the Co-Founder and CFO, I was responsible for managing the company’s financial structure, which gave me valuable experience in being a leader. We generated more than NTD100,000 in revenue, which was a testament to our team’s hard work and dedication. This experience allowed me to deepen my knowledge of the startup industry and develop my skills in business management. I believe that this experience will be valuable to me in my future endeavours.

What are your plans after graduation?

I am currently trying to set up a technology innovation and entrepreneurship integrated services company. To solve the problems of “exposure difficulties, office difficulties, financing difficulties” for micro, small and technological innovation enterprises, providing services including media exposure, office space and related supporting services, financing docking and other services. After graduation, I will continue to test the feasibility of the project in Sydney for at least three years.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

My undergraduate major was Industrial engineering with specialisations on quantitative modelling and programming. At present, in my master’s degree in finance, I realise that to stand out in entrepreneurship, I must rely on 1. Better algorithms 2. More innovative Internet marketing models 3. More efficient reliance on artificial intelligence for solutions. Therefore, I am very interested in the topics that will be covered in this event.

I still maintain my original heart and enthusiasm in the career goals I pursue.

Even though I think it’s a little bit overrated, AI is going to be the basic building block of every software application in the future simply because it’s so versatile and it fits to multiple kind of projects which leads to saving a lot of work time for not only the developers but also for the users as well.

I had just attended the Brisbane Workplace Innovation Hackathon hosted by Tanda and won a small prize at the hackathon. To me, this is not just an achievement but also an experience in working as a team and trying to bring the best out of people when doing a project.

Since I am studying Industrial Design, I plan to work in a design firm to gain valuable experience or to incorporate more of my business degree and explore project management jobs. I am putting my foot on the doorstep of biotechnology industry or biotechnology related sectors.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

Monitoring blood sugar level is soon not a painful must-do for diabetes patients like my dad because smart device may monitor vitals in a non-invasive approach. Vitals can be monitored in a watch-sized device. Furthermore, pricking is no longer required. This emerging technology has potential to disrupt the diabetes patient care.

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

I was involved in promoting a clinical trial design invented by a Brisbane-based start-up.

I set my goal to work in the software industry in the position of sales or product manager.

I received the scholarship from UQVENTURE to participate in an overseas internship in San Francisco. This internship let me see how these famous tech companies, such as Google and Facebook, are operating and how the innovative idea was created.

What are your plans after graduation?

I am currently on route to work at Atlassian through the Graduate program, with intention of pursuing an intrapreneurially pathway. Running a clothing business on the side.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

The most exciting part is the speed of growth. A lot of new start-ups and ideas are being introduced at a very fast pace. Lots of university students being interested in innovation and entrepreneurship, alongside lots of support through programs like UQVentures. All of which result in great ideas being incubated and grown.

– Selected to go to Singapore through UQ Adventure to immerse myself in the fast paced start-up culture
– Tutoring at my university
– Multiple internships

What are your plans after graduation?

I have secured a graduate role starting from March 2024. I am eager to absorb knowledge, and to learn from the people around me. I am looking forward to honing my skills and building meaningful connections with colleagues and mentors. By actively engaging in projects, seeking our learning opportunities, and embracing challenges, I aim to make the most of this experience.  

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

The digital age has democratised access to information and resources. It is amazing to see that people are able to collaborate on projects from all corners of the world, regardless of geographical boundaries. This opens the door to diverse perspectives and expertise which is fostering innovation that is enriched by a wide range of viewpoints. 

From an Australian perspective, Australia’s unique geographical location and relatively small population have sometimes posed challenges in accessing global expertise and participating in large-scale innovation networks, but it is amazing to see that the landscape is changing in exciting ways. 

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

I worked on a project with a venture capital company analysing different startups in Australia. Through this project, I was able to see the diverse array of industries that startups in Australia are venturing into and further developed my understanding of the dynamic startup ecosystem.

I’m planning to work in a bank, mostly about digital currencies.

What are your plans after graduation?

My goal is to continue fostering the entrepreneurial, innovative, passionate, and leadership side of myself by becoming the founder and CEO of my own start-up. Thus, I definitely hope to work in start-ups, perhaps even a corporate company for experience, and also get experience going through an accelerator, raising rounds, and every opportunity I possibly can to gain more exposure in the start-up world.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

I would have to say AI of course!!!! And how we as humanity are using technology more than ever to ease the pain points of society and make everything as convenient and streamlined as possible. I am fascinated by all the applications of technology in basically any and every industry.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plans after graduating is to work in the climate tech industry. This would be my first official step in building a career in impact. Currently, I am finding every opportunity to build my network and up skill such as participating climate tech programs, involve in club societies, networking events and online forums.

What about digital, innovation or tech is exciting you most at the moment?

The most recent technology I found while travelling is GetGo in Singapore. This car sharing company is so much more than car sharing. The technology really blows my mind.

What are some of your greatest (career) achievements to date?

I’m still early in my career and studying, but if I were to list some things they would be considered as micro-steps to reaching my goal:
