To the incredible Something Fest community,

Many of you will have heard by now that ACS Labs was wound up a couple of weeks ago, bringing an abrupt end to the team behind Something Tech.

The Labs team have been a huge part of the Something Fest journey over the past few years. They poured an incredible amount of blood, sweat and tears into building Something Tech and helping it become what it is today. We’re incredibly grateful for everything they contributed and genuinely saddened by the loss of the team.

The reality is, with only nine weeks until the festival, it simply isn’t possible to recreate what would normally take a dedicated team a year to build.

So rather than pretending otherwise, we’re focusing on preserving the outcomes that are most valued – and in doing so, creating new opportunities.

For 2026, key elements of Something Tech will be integrated into Something Digital.

Across two days (25-26 August), Something Digital will bring together hundreds of leaders, innovators, technologists, marketers, creatives and decision-makers from across Australia’s innovation economy.

By bringing startups into the heart of the event, we’re creating more opportunities for founders to meet the customers, partners and champions who can help accelerate their growth.

Featuring 8 international and national headliners alongside a huge lineup of local speakers, Something Digital has always been about bringing together the people, ideas and conversations driving innovation forward.

As part of this evolution, we’re introducing 3 new startup-focused activations:

  • Startup Alley: 25 startups showcasing what they’re building across the 2 days.
  • Lightning Pitches: A series of rapid fire pitches taking place over lunch each day.
  • Tech Talks: A dedicated space for startup, scale-up and innovation-focused conversations.

One of the things we’ve always loved about Something Fest is the collisions that happen when different parts of the ecosystem come together.

Startups meeting customers. Founders meeting collaborators. Digital leaders discovering new technologies. Conversations that probably wouldn’t have happened otherwise. By bringing these elements into Something Digital, we’re creating even more opportunities for those collisions to happen.

Whilst this is not quite how we expected the 2026 edition to unfold, we’re genuinely excited about what these additions will bring to Something Digital and the opportunities they create for founders, startups and innovators.

If you’ve been thinking about joining us in August, now is the perfect time.

Something Fest & Something Tech were a blast! I got to meet some amazing people in 2024 and learnt about some really important issues in tech and innovation that I had been overlooking, particularly around cyber security and inclusive design. The attendees were very friendly and interested in our activities in the innovation scene and I made some great connections to help my business. I also got to deepen some friendships with colleagues that attended and took away some incredible memories.
